Back Cover to AI Art S3E26 - A 10 Tank Killer
Older video games were notorious for back cover descriptions that have nothing to do with the game so let's see what a text-to-image generator makes of these descriptions. each episode of Back Cover to AI Art Season 3 will feature 4 ai art creations for each game.
1. Intro - 00:00 2. Back Cover and Text Description - 00:10 3. Creation 1 - 00:30 4. Creation 2 - 01:00 5. Creation 3 - 01:30 6. Creation 4 - 02:00 7. Outro – 02:30
A-10 Tank Killer (Amiga) The Warthog is back and it’s better than ever! Now you can fly the ugliest, most indestructible plane ever built in the war that made it famous, Operation Desert Storm. Rankings (and Achievements) from playing Dynamix
Thiis was my first time playing said game, as I wasn't very used to the way the notes came to the left or right sides, so it was hard for me to keep up
I fairly got 2 full combos and a Next Chi and Psi ranks and Achievements on two catchy songs
I tried to complete a song on hard but i stuck to using normal difficulty (My hands hurt)

Ask Masterpost #6 -- 2/22/2025
This puts me completely up to date for all blog-related asks! Next week, I will begin answering the other types of asks I have received :).
Sorry if my answers this time are a little short and curt -- I sort of stressed myself out trying to give long explanations, which led me to NOT answering asks in a reasonably timely manner, and I realized I should probably save that effort for when I actually write up the rules proper. (Doing this does not annoy me and I appreciate all the asks regardless! So please do not feel like you're bothering me with any questions because of this.)
Summary:
Inquiry regarding out-of-service games / song length
Inquiry regarding links/song sources in submissions
Permissibility of mods and fanmade expansions (100% Allowed)
Permissibility / Further clarification on rhythm game songs
Permissibility of mobile game music (Allowed)
Permissibility of folk song covers (Allowed)
Inquiry regarding songs with multiple movements
Inquiry regarding songs that appear on the OST but not inside the game
Inquiry regarding reveal video links
Inquiry regarding circumstances of a specific remake
Permissibility of pop song covers (Allowed)
Permissibility of console menu songs (Allowed)
Inquiry regarding nameless submissions
----------
Can I submit a song from an MMO that’s been offline for a decade?
Related question: Can I submit a song that is 17 minutes long?
Yes and Yes -- But tumblr has a limit on the file size I can upload for both MP3 and MP4, so I might have to crop it regardless. You can add your recommended crop time to your submission if you feel it might be necessary.
----------
For the song I wanted to submit, the only good youtube link for it was taken down recently. So my options would be to send a youtube link for a version with inferior audio (which also uses a fanmade title rather than the official one), or a link to a google drive file that has the song in good quality. I haven't been able to find it anywhere else. Any preference/suggestions as to what I should do?
You can send the google drive link and I'll download it from there if you prefer to have the best audio possible. I'd appreciate having the youtube link as well for the reveal, and then you can drop the google drive link in the comments to share with everyone (if you'd like) :).
----------
Do you take music from mods? If someone's made a soundtrack for a fan made game expansion?
Yes and yes.
----------
While I know submissions aren't open at the moment, I just want to ask so I can find a good submission for when they are, one of the rules states rhythm game songs that aren't EXCLUSIVELY video games songs won't be accepted. Would songs made specifically for a rhythm game count as a video game song in that regard? For example, a lot of songs in bemani games are made specifically for said game either by outside artists or the in-house sound teams.
A very generalized rule you can follow for rhythm games is: - If it's an idol/ensemble-cast/gacha rhythm game: No - If it's a regular rhythm game, such as rhythm heaven, dynamix, arcaea, any arcade game: Yes. This rule specifically exists to rule out submissions of songs from series like Love Live, Bandori, Ensemble Stars, IDOLISH7, etc.
----------
1: do you take song recs?
2: do you count mobile games?
3: Neko Atsume music
1. As far as I'm concerned, all submissions are song recs. 2. Yes 3. Yes
----------
@nutella-icecream asked:
Is it okay to submit the cover of a folk song that was included in a video game if I have the name of the person performing it?
Yes, covers made for the video game are alright.
----------
If a song consists of multiple movements that are technically separate tracks in-game (e.g. a multi-phase boss fight) should each movement be submitted separately or can the combined song be submitted?
What if an official soundtrack release includes both (individual tracks for each movement as well as a track combining them?)
You can specify the specific movement you'd like to submit or the entire song, and it doesn't matter to me if they're combined on the official OST or not :) (just let me know if you have a preferred crop time if they ARE combined). If it's something like a two-part boss fight with one song name, I'd just name it like "Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy (first phase)" and "Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy (second phase)". I would probably not post any of the movements individually if the full song had already been posted previously, but I would consider doing the opposite (posting the full song when only movements have been posted previously). This is highly dependent on the particular song.
----------
would a song that only appears in a trailer but is on the official ost count or nah
If it's on the official OST, it's alright.
----------
when revealing songs with in-game music videos (e.g. submissions from the beatmania iidx series), would you be linking an upload of the song with static album art, or one with the video as well?
I pick the youtube video for the reveal based almost entirely on what I think the most "stable" link might be -- links with more views, that's been on youtube for more time, or that's from the composers / other official channel. If they have an in-game music video you'd prefer for the reveal you're more than welcome to indicate that on the submission.
----------
@jadevampvm-blog asked:
Okay, I have a question about the submission rules. I have a particular song that was a remix made after the publishing of the game, but was never actually in any of the games. Now, there's a remake of the game coming out and the song is in the trailer. In the event that you open submissions before the remake is out, would I be allowed to submit this song?
I think that's okay in this specific scenario :)
----------
are video-game specific covers of non-vg covers allowed? for example, Bioshock Infinite has a barbershop quartet sing God Only Knows, a calliope organ(?) rendition of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and a couple of other 1912 covers of iconic pop songs
also, i wanted to point out that you sometimes (including in the information masterpost) use the tag #not a vg music poll and sometimes use #not a vgmusic poll and the inconsistency of the space in the tags makes finding those posts awkward
Yes, this is totally okay. Also thank you for letting me know about the tags! I try to keep them consistent but I forget sometimes LOL. I don't know why I haven't made an xkit shortcut for it yet.
----------
@moonlitstargazer asked:
are songs from console menus allowed? (e.g. Settings - Nintendo 3DS, Wii Shop Channel, PlayStation Home Menu, etc.)
Yes, because... I think they're deeply iconic to the overall video game scene in general. I may reserve them for special posting days, though.
----------
@lonepower asked:
Ok, so I know that songs which are on an in-game soundtrack but not released as part of the OST are allowed, but (when the time comes) what should I do about a song that plays in-game but isn't on the OST, doesn't have a title in the game files (it's just numbers), and isn't on youtube? I can credit the composer because it's the game composer, but should I just submit it as "untitled [game area] theme", should I make up a title, or would it just not be allowed?
That's definitely allowed :). You can just describe the song the best of your ability or use a commonly attributed name in the fandom or something. I would probably go with something like "[character or area name] theme" or "Song that plays during [chapter/cutscene/moment/fight]". Even just the numbers would be alright.

Halloween Week of Horror (Games)
It’s that most horrible time of year, and I've decided to explore the spooky world of text-based games. My list of games is cribbed from this post and this post.
GAMEIFY HORROR // DAY 1
DAY 2: 13 laurel road, unbecoming, what girls do in the dark, the open house, return
13 laurel road
an interactive fiction game about the relationships we have with places and reconciling with trauma. You play as a young man named Noah who has been tasked with picking up some things from his cousin’s old house.
This one was surprisingly affective, given that there is no objective horror—no jumpscares, no mysterious noises, no ghosts beyond the perfectly ordinary ones that plague all of us.
Still, the set up (a young man, tasked with grabbing some things from the old family house) and the conclusion (coming to terms with the intergenerational cycles we fall into, giving you the chance to break free from them) worked wonderfully for me. In particular, I liked the way the game conveyed Noah's internal conflict---the refrain of "I won't think about that," and the way that you as a player aren't quite clear who is still alive as you move through the abandoned family home.
...I am a little disappointed that there weren't ghosts though.
SPOOKY LEVEL: 1/10, mostly for ambient horror and decay
OVERALL GRADE: B-
unbecoming
a sonically-textured interactive horror fiction exploring cycles of trauma and unspeakable forces of nature in a mythic rural American landscape.
Well, damn. I think that’s the second time I’ve put that in my notes, but also—damn. Damn does this game deserve it. Despite the lack of images (just text, white and sharp except when bleeding into red) it felt extremely well-realized, lived in. Maybe it's just because I know these places, have been to these farms, have looked at Dust Bowl photographs of children on buckling front porches, but the scenery was its own character---which is amazing when there's no actual scenery.
Not to mention that the story gets into one of my soft places and digs---the fraught ritual and cycles of repeated harm; the kind of blurry boundaries that make such effective horror. Family as obligation and a horror story you can't always escape. Not to mention how the gameplay makes you complicit in continuing that horror...
SPOOKY LEVEL: 5/10, not necessarily overtly, but uh. There is a giant hungering pit, and corpses in beds.
OVERALL GRADE: A-
what girls do in the dark
This little game is based off one of the greatest fears they had as a teenage girl: showing up late to a stranger’s slumber party.
Of all the games on this list, this was the first one that—as soon as the credits rolled—I immediately wanted to play again. I wanted to see if I could get a different ending, if I could somehow "win." There’s just something about those haunting scraps of “maybe you could have saved yourself...” that tantalize you, and make you want to try for a happier ending.
....not to mention that I have a well-documented weakness for deals with the devil.
I'll also add that the almost MS DOS style prompts ("TAKE [ITEM]" "OPEN DOOR") were devastatingly effective; a way of narrowing your choices while also giving you the illusion of choice.
SPOOKY LEVEL: 3/10, given the blood and the creeping horror
OVERALL GRADE: A-
the open house
We at Northtree Real Estate (in partnership with Optix Dynamix Labs) are proud to present our new, state-of-the-art, open house simulator! Come and take a quick tour of 15615 Hollow Oak Lane, a familiar and comfortable showcase home in one of our premier developments!
This particular game is just cool as hell. As someone who (like many millennials) has been addicted to Zillow and other house-hunting websites, this landed with immediate effect. What if scrolling through virtual walkthroughs on your local house hunting website opened up a portal to the unknown? What if it showed murders immediately after they were committed? What if, as you go further and further into this virtual house, you were going out---into something vast, unknown, and chilling?
Amazing, clever, wonderful.
SPOOKY LEVEL: 5/10, largely for unreality and a couple creepy images that still linger with me.
OVERALL GRADE: A
return
a text-based horror game about coming home
The more of these games I play, the more it becomes clear that what I like is horror that verges on the inexplicable—dream logic and images that refuse to resolve into reasonableness. I loved that here: the static, the mycelium, the pier with its strange dead-already fish, the self that guides you through the next cycle. What does it say about our horror stories if there is no going home? If it's just cycles of returning and rebirth and horror we can't escape?
(Sidenote, I am in love with Carver, and the little bit woven in about cybernetic/android assistive devices was tantalizing.)
Again, it's amazing how these text-based games manage to convey so much, so richly, with just words. Or maybe I just have an overactive imagination.
SPOOKY LEVEL: 7/10, just because the sense of unreality is so strong, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who doesn't enjoy that
OVERALL GRADE: B

I'm gonna start posting updates here, if anyone sees this, thanks. But don't tell anyone else, especially her. Oh, and for @/cheezyharu and @/carro179 feel free to dm me via discord or tumblr, but absolutely not via the server, I have it muted. I will not be answering asks, either.
State that you came from my pinned post.
Oh and congrats if you came here from the haiku I posted. If not, welcome anyway.

30 November, 2024
Whoever is reading this, I'm ok (like hell I am), but I'm not gonna be publicly active for a while, only here in this tiny space I've created for myself, other servers, and occasionally, youtube uploads. I do want to say, that was fucking stupid of me, I'm truly sorry, but I'm too much of a coward to say it to everyone's face. I ruin every friendship I'm in, irl and online. I should shut up sometimes.
---
Hey, this is after writing that haiku and dropping all those hints and changes, god damn I want to talk to those two, but I'm just making it more difficult, aren't I? Fucking hell. Well, I'll just see if they could solve it.
Also, crazy thought, is this what it feels like to have a sibling? Or is this how some friendships go? Does a friendship have a phase where you don't talk to each other for extended periods of time?
---
I wonder if there is a character limit to posts.
...I'm trying to distract myself. I miss them so much. I... I'm looking at the 2ECONDS TO STARLIVHT app on my phone, what could have been if I... shut up.
I want to cry
No, stop it, you're a boy. Boys don't cry.
_ _ _ _ _
1 December, 2024
I'm tired. It's nighttime, I'm studying for tomorrow's finals, and I'm tired. Still kinda feel like shit tbh.
Just a nap...? No... there is no time...
Time... when...? When will I... fucking coward.
_ _ _ _ _
2 December 2024
I'll try to come back next week, after finals. Might still be busy with one (hopefully it stays at one) remedial and a project I took on for the school's Chinese New Year's event.
What happens when I come back...? Does she hate me? Should I come back? What if I say the wrong things again...?
---
Would this kill me?

_ _ _ _ _
3 December 2024
I feel kind of lonely... but it does help with studying. Today (and right now) I actually got myself to start writing down notes, so far I'm three pages in, and it only took me like 30 minutes.
_ _ _ _ _
4 December 2024
I... got 90 for PKn and 98 on Geography...
I don't know how to feel, to be honest.
To be so close to perfection, yet...
Only one mistake in the multiple choices for Geography.
Also discovered that I got a 45 on Math. I'm slow, I know. Only got a few questions done before the time ran out ._.
Hopefully that'll be my only remedial. Tomorrow I have Chemistry and English, along with Scouts for whatever reason. They just announced that suddenly smh
_ _ _ _ _
5 December 2024
All of 10th grade worked together on scouts exam (clearly not allowed), pretty sure everyone failed anyway. Scouts is a bitch.
So uh, the PKN/Geography teacher decided to deduct like, 8 points from our grades ._.
Yeah I got roped into it as well... He did say that there might be other point additions/deductions. We'll see tomorrow.
Now, the only reason I'm talking about this is because I think we weren't completely in the wrong. You see, they suddenly announced the scouts exam, and not a single bit of materials were given out. We didn't know anything. They didn't teach us anything, either. It's like they were just setting all of 10th (and maybe 11th) grade up for failure.
Oh btw that point deduction made the passing rate (for PKN) drop from ~96% to only about 30%.
_ _ _ _ _
6 December 2024
Last exam done. Update on PKN and Geography: The point deduction thing was a joke and we didn't actually do that well, the teacher put a random big number to troll everyone on the first two days (I still BARELY passed PKN with a 71, Geography score should be out soon).
---
I got a 90 on Geography :3
Highest score in 10th grade (tied with someone smh).

Sega Saturn - Arthur to Astaroth no Nazo Makai Mura: Incredible Toons
Title: Arthur to Astaroth no Nazo Makai Mura: Incredible Toons / アーサーとアスタロトの謎魔界村 インクレディブル トゥーンズ
Developer/Publisher: Capcom / Magical Formation / Dynamix
Release date: 30 August 1996
Catalogue No.: T-1209G
Genre: Puzzle & Action
You could be forgiven for thinking that this is another Ghouls 'n' Ghosts platformer from looking at the front cover when it is actually a very interesting puzzle game. The idea is to basically get from point A to point B. You are told before each round what the goal of that area is. You then have to use the limited icons available to complete that goal. The icons available change from stage to stage with a limited amount to complete the goal. There are no extras whatsoever. This is actually quite a bonus though since you don't have to worry about if you are using the right items or not. Everything given in the inventory must be used.
I found this game quite fun if not a little easy for the 2 hours I played it. I must have completed a good 30-odd stages with only two giving me any sort of real thinking challenge on where to place my items. I guess this is a good point since the goals for each level are explained in Japanese. I just wish that there was an option to skip the earlier levels and go straight to the more difficult ones. At least I got to use my Saturn's mouse with this game.

Console Sports Games of 1994 - Bouncers
Bouncers is a Basketball game with a difference, unlike traditional basketball games that are usually 5v5 or 2v2 for the likes of NBA Jam. Bouncers is a 1v1 basketball game with players using their opponents to bounce off of them in order to gain enough height to reach the basket, additional powerups and powerdowns periodically appear to also assist or hinder you, as well as for scoring additional points.
Bouncers was released for the Sega CD in 1994 and released exclusively in the US. Developed by Dynamix and published by Sega, Bouncers was the only entry in this interesting take on the sport.
